Flatiron Health announces research to be presented at International Conference of Pharmacoepidemiology 2023 Annual Meeting

NEW YORK, NY, August 21, 2023 – Flatiron Health today announced that the company will present a total of three abstracts accepted for oral and poster presentation at this year’s International Conference on Pharmacoepidemiology (ICPE), to be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, CA this August 23-26. Flatiron's research and presence at this well respected conference signify a milestone in our ability to glean insights from a broader spectrum of patient experiences and use cutting-edge methodologies like artificial intelligence, including machine learning and natural language processing, to drive the transformation of cancer care and improve public health.

“As demonstrated by our presence at ICPE this year, Flatiron is committed to accelerating innovative and solution-oriented cancer health equity research that improves patient lives,” said Javier Jimenez, Chief Medical Officer, Flatiron Health. “Through our products and research, we are unlocking opportunities to address inequities in healthcare access, advance diversity in clinical research, and evaluate social determinants of health and inequities in cancer treatment and outcomes.”

Research highlights include:

  • An Oral Presentation investigating the associations between structural racism, treatment initiation, and survival rates among individuals diagnosed with specific types of solid-tumor cancers.

  • An Oral Presentation identifying the social determinants of health that contribute to racial and ethnic inequities in clinical trial participation.

  • A Poster Presentation assessing the influence of two different approaches to data curation, expert-abstraction and machine learning based natural language processing, on the ability to accurately measure patient characteristics and capture real-world treatment patterns.
